NCC chooses winning design for Nepean Point redevelopment

OTTAWA – The $6.7 million re-development of Nepean Point has been awarded to a plan called the “Big River Landscape.”

The development will add a pedestrian bridge that connects Majors Hill Park to Nepean Point.

The statue of Samuel de Champlain will stay put — but will overlook a new lookout called ‘Whispering Point.’

There will also be a theatre space on the land, along with several other features.

Construction is expected to begin sometime in 2019.

The winning design was chosen at the National Capital Commission board meeting Thursday.
