Greek Fest organizers: ‘Don’t worry about Prince of Wales Drive construction’

Ottawa Greek Fest is underway, despite on-going construction on Prince of Wales Drive.
Co-Chair Tom Varvaresos told Ottawa Today on 1310 NEWS, traffic moved well on the festival's first night, Thursday.
There is expected to be plenty of parking behind the Hellenic Meeting & Reception Centre. Visitors can also park and get shuttle service every 10-15 minutes from the corner of Heron Road and Prince of Wales Drive, as well as from Prince of Wales Drive at Meadowlands Drive.
Varvarsos said he is excited for what the next 10 days will bring — especially because the weather is predicted to be sunny and warm.

The Co-chair explained that festival attendees will enjoy dancers from Ottawa and out of town, highlighting dances native to various regions of Greece.
The food is always a hit among visitors. This year, vendors will feature all the classics, plus gyro poutine, among other surprises.
“You can go from one end of the menu to the other,” said Varvarsos.
There is an artisan court at Greek Fest, where visitors will find Greek art. In the court, there will also be olive oil tastings, along with cooking demonstrations.
The highlight of this year's festival is expected to come Wednesday night, when Greek guitarist Pavlo performs.
