Two-alarm fire under investigation near Barrhaven West

Ottawa fire investigators are on the scene of a garage fire at 818 Cedarview Road.
Officials say a passerby called 911 at 1:36 p.m., Thursday, reporting smoke visible from a home when traveling on Cedarview Road.
Fire crews confirmed heavy black smoke when they arrived at the Cedarview Road property.
A second alarm was declared soon after, in order to limit the fire to the large garage and protect the connected residence.
Firefighters engaged in a rapid fire attack in the two storey garage. Other crews monitored the conditions in the attached home to ensure there was no fire spread.
Crews remained on scene to complete overhaul activities and try to salvage a vehicle and other items stored in the garage.
The fire was declared under control at 2:32 p.m.
There are no reported injuries at this time.
Cedarview Road has since reopened to traffic.
