Assault with weapon charges laid in Limoges

Two men are facing charges after an altercation and seperate weapons-related search, both in Limoges.

Russell County OPP officers responded to a break and enter on August 5 at 10:15 p.m., on Limoges Road, and found that a fight had happened between two men and a woman.

Andre Omer Mayer, 61, of Casselman, was arrested and charged with:

  • Assault with a Weapon CC 267(a)
  • Uttering Threats – Cause death or Bodily Harm CC 264.1(1)(a) (Two counts)
  • Break, Enter dwelling house – commit indictable offence CC 348(1)(b) 
  • Fail to Comply with Conditions of Undertaking Given by Officer in Charge CC 145(5.1)

He is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in L'Orignal on August 12.

Then on August 11, shortly after 8:45 a.m., OPP responded to a weapons complaint on Ottawa Street and found a man with a gun.

Randy Stewart, 54, of Limoges, was arrested and charged with:

  • Break & Enter a place and steal a firearm CC 98(1)(b)
  • Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm CC 91(1)
  • Possession of Firearm or Ammunition contrary to Prohibition Order CC 117.01(1)
  • Possession for the Purpose of Weapons Trafficking CC 100 
  • Possession Property Obtained by Crime Under $5,000 – in Canada CC 354(1)(a)

He is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in L'Orignal on August 12.
