Handgun seized in Centretown traffic stop

A 25-year-old Gatineau man is facing a list of weapon-related charges after a traffic stop in the area of Somerset Street West and Kent Street.
The stop was made on Friday at 11:52 p.m.
Officers seized a Glock Gen 4.40 calibre handgun, rounds of ammunition and an extended magazine.
Azal Shoaib has been charged with:
- Possess Weapon, Dangerous to Public Peace
- Unlicenced Person Possess prohibited/restricted weapon
- Possess restricted or prohibited firearm knowingly not holding a licence and registration certificate
- Possess firearm obtained by crime
- Possess loaded regulated firearm
- Use/handle/store firearm carelessly
- Occupy motor vehicle with firearm
- Possess firearm while prohibited
- Carry concealed weapon
Shoaib appeared in court on Saturday.
