Four guns, a bunch of drugs uncovered in Ottawa and Gatineau

Four people are facing a list of charges after Ottawa police seized four firearms and a variety of drugs in Ottawa, Gatineau and Chapeau.

With assistance from the Sûreté du Québec and Service de Police de la ville de Gatineau, warrants were executed on Wood Acres Grove, just west of Bank Street and south of Leitrim Road, and on Hawthorne Road near Russell Road in Ottawa, Thursday morning. Other searches happened on Leduc Street in Gatineau and on River Road in Chapeau, Quebec.

Drugs seized:

  • Cocaine                                                    
  • Crack Cocaine                                                                                                      
  • Methamphetamine (tablet form)
  • Cannabis                                                                                                                          

Property seized: 

  • Four firearms (two rifles, a shotgun and a handgun)
  • Hydraulic press
  • Scales and packaging materials
  • Canadian currency

All drugs seized are still to be analyzed by Health Canada.

The following people were arrested and charged on Thursday:

Ihsan Saritoprak, 33, of Ottawa, appeared in Ottawa court on Thursday:

  • Possession for the purpose of trafficking schedule I substance (two counts)
  • Possession of proceeds of crime over $5,000

Duygu Saritoprak, 29, of Ottawa, was released on a promise to appear in court:

  • Possession of Cannabis for the purpose of selling
  • Possession of proceeds of crime over $5,000

Turgut Sahin, 30, of Ottawa, was released on a promise to appear in court:

  • Possession of Cannabis for the purpose of selling
  • Possession of proceeds of crime over $5,000

A 39-year-old man of Gatineau and Chapeau will appear in Quebec court at a future date:

  • Possession for the purpose of trafficking schedule I substance (two counts)
  • Possession proceeds of crime under $5,000
  • Numerous firearms charges still being determined by Sûreté du Québec

The investigation is ongoing and more people could be charged as a result.
