Gatineau police end active search for missing uOttawa student

Gatineau Police announced that they have ended the active search for a missing University of Ottawa student.

Jonathan Blanchette went missing on February 6. The 32-year-old last made contact with family members at his residence, and was then spotted at a store in Gatineau.

A canine unit and divers from the Sûreté du Québec have searched the Blanche River, and ground teams have been deployed during the search.

Police say the investigation will remain active.

Blanchette is described as:

  • White
  • 6'1″ with an athletic build
  • Short black hair, brown eyes and a black beard
  • Last seen wearing a black winter coat, grey sweater, black snow pants with black Sorel winter boots
