Drone dropping drugs and weapons intercepted at Kingston’s Collins Bay

Two people are facing charges after the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP)-led Joint Forces Penitentiary Squad seized a drone and a shipment of contraband at Collins Bay Institution in Kingston.

Officers responded to suspicious activity near the penitentiary on Tuesday, March 24, around 4 a.m., finding a drone and arresting two people in the area. 

Correctional Service of Canada officials recovered a package within the institution's walls, discovering it to be filled with cannabis, cell phones, weapons, tobacco and other contraband items.

Two people from Sainte Anne des Plaines, Quebec are charged under the Criminal Code with Mischief – sec. 430. Police say their names cannot be released at this time.

The investigation by members of the OPP-led Joint-Forces Penitentiary Squad is ongoing.
