By Dani-Elle Dubé

Three residents of an Almonte nursing home have tested positive for COVID-19 and is being deemed an outbreak.

The Almonte Country Haven nursing home at 333 Country Street near Robert Street confirmed the news on their Facebook page Sunday afternoon.

According to their statement posted to their Facebook page, staff were informed by the Leeds, Grenville and Lanark District Public Health that three of their residents had tested positive for the virus.

“Our number one priority is the safety and care of our residents as well as the containment and prevention of further spread of the virus,” the statement read. “We are working closely with our partners at the Leeds, Grenville and Lanark District Public health unit, the Ministry of Long-Term Care and the Almonte General Hospital as well as many other resources.”

As a precaution, every resident has been isolated to their room to prevent further spread.

Meals will be delivered to residents’ individual rooms by staff.

Personal protective equipment will be used by all staff, the home says.

For further information, those concerned are asked to contact the Public Health Unit.
