A healthcare worker at Ottawa’s children’s hospital has tested positive for the COVID-19 virus, CHEO confirms.
According to a statement released on their website Saturday, the worker was tested on March 25 at the Assessment Centre at Brewer Arena and is currently self-isolating and doing well.
The hospital says the employee had no recent travel history.
The healthcare worker was most recently at CHEO on March 18 and has not been back. They work in an Ambulatory Care outpatient clinic.
“CHEO’S Occupational Health and Safety team initiated contact tracing immediately and identified three individuals who came into direct contact with the individual,” the announcement said. “All have been advised to self-isolate for 14 days as a precaution. No further action is required by CHEO staff or medical staff in this situation.”
The hospital says all proper infection prevention and control measures are in place at CHEO.
Everyone who enters CHEO is screened for COVID-19 symptoms and only asymptomatic people are permitted to enter the building.
