Plans for a transit commission meeting have been nixed for a third straight month.
The plan, according two councillor Riley Brockington and citizen transit commissioner Sarah Wright Gilbert was to hold a virtual meeting on May 20. Since the last two meetings have been cancelled. Wright Gilbert tells 1310 the City shouldn’t cancel a third because there are too many issues to discuss.
Even though Ridership is down, Wright Gilbert says it’s important to have transparent discussions.
“We still need to get the answers to our questions especially given our budget shortfall and the issues with rtg and their response to the city’s letter to get updates the work that they’re doing because at some point the city is going to re-open,” Wright Gilbert said.
Transit chair Allan Hubley says there aren’t any time sensitive reports to bring to the committee. Wright Gilbert says she’s asking all other members to petition the chair to hold a special meeting which would require a majority vote. If that fails, Wright Gilbert plans to hold a special Zoom meeting for residents to talk transit.
