By Mike Vlasveld

A man is dead and a woman is in critical condition after a crash near the Champlain Bridge in Ottawa.

The Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) issued a correction Monday, as earlier reports stated the pedestrian was injured and the cyclist had died.

The RCMP says around 7 p.m. Wednesday, June 10, a vehicle struck two people in the area of Island Park Drive and the Sir John A. Macdonald Parkway.

The man, a pedestrian, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Ottawa police say the woman cyclist was transported to hospital in critical condition.

No charges have been laid at this time.
