Hospital parking fees reinstated in Ottawa, as in person clinics resume

By Victoria Williston

Hospital parking lots will once again start charging a fee for staff, patients, and visitors.

The Ottawa Hospital, CHEO, and the Montfort Hospital suspended paid parking in March due to clinic closures as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic.

All three hospitals have statements posted on their website. The Ottawa Hospital will implement regular parking fees on Canada Day, while CHEO and parking remains free at Montfort until July 2; the hospital will start charging on July 3.

The statement from the Ottawa Hospital said with more services opening, they expect to see a larger number of patients, as well as staff returning to work.

Revenue from hospital parking fees helps pay for medical equipment and research.
