Two teenagers are facing charges after police stopped a pair of suspicious people in the early morning hours in a Stittsville neighbourhood.

An officer saw two men walking in the Steventon Crescent and Delamere Drive area around 4 a.m., and about 25 minutes later, spotted them coming out of two separate driveways.

They were arrested for trespassing, and while investigating, officers seized a loaded sawed-off shotgun and some stolen property.

Lochiel McCarthy, 19, of Ottawa, has been charged with:

  • Carry a Concealed Weapon, along with other weapons related offences
  • Possess Proceeds of Property Obtained by Crime
  • Prowl at Night

He is scheduled to appear in court today.

Colm Lesage, 18, of Ottawa, has been charged with:

  • Prowl at Night
  • Possession of Stolen Property

He was released on a Promise to Appear.

This was the 62nd gun seized by Ottawa police in 2020.
