Conservative MPPs in the Ottawa area are announcing new schools coming to Barrhaven, Stittsville and Kanata.

The Ottawa-Carleton District School Board has been approved for $14.9-million for Fernbank Elementary School in Kanata, and $12.5-million to build École Élementaire Publique Kanata Sud in Stittsville.

Nepean MPP Lisa MacLeod also announced a new school in the Half Moon Bay area of Barrhaven.

It's all part of the province's $500-million plan to build 30 new schools and make upgrades to 15 existing facilities.

The new Fernbank Elementary School is expected to include 628 student spaces and 39 new licensed child care spaces, while the École Élementaire Publique Kanata Sud should feature 425 elementary student spaces and 49 new licensed child care spaces.
