Ottawa Tourism offering $100 for local hotel bookings

By Alex Goudge

Ottawa Tourism has launched a new campaign designed to give a little extra incentive to those visiting the capital this year.

The campaign, dubbed “It's On Us!” will provide visitors who book two nights in a row at numerous participating hotels like the Fairmont Château Laurier and the Andaz Ottawa ByWard Market by September 30th and travel by the end of the year with a $100 Visa gift card.

The gift card can be used for a multitude of things including dinners, tours and attractions, and activities.

According to a release, Ottawa Tourism wants to reward those who book a hotel in the city by covering the cost of something like “a nice meal on a patio in the Byward Market” or “a boat cruise along the Rideau Canal.”

This comes after Ottawa Tourism estimates a loss of $1.4 billion of spending for this year, as a result of the pandemic. The Ottawa tourism industry brings in a yearly average of $2.2 billion and typically employees over 43,000 people.

More information on the incentive and participating hotels can be found on Ottawa Tourism's website.
