By Mike Vlasveld

The Ottawa Police Service has arrested and charged a man in relation to a break-in at an office building on Cumberland Street in Sandy Hill.

Officers were called to the area around 11 p.m. on July 28, after they say a man wearing a t-shirt wrapped around his head smashed a window to gain access to an office located in a complex near Laurier Avenue.

The suspect left the scene with stolen property.

The OPS Break and Enter Unit has since charged Derrick Rheubottom, 43, of Ottawa, with:

  • Breaking and entering to commit theft
  • Wearing a disguise with intent

He was released on an undertaking.
