FOUND: Public assistance needed in search for Ottawa man in mental distress

UPDATE, Wednesday, September 16: The Ottawa Police Service says Lee Whitmore has been located safe.

The Ottawa Police Service is asking for the public's help to find a 47-year-old man in mental health distress.

Lee Whitmore, of Ottawa, was last heard from on Monday, September 15. 

Police say his family is concerned for his safety. 

Lee is a described as:

  • White
  • 6'0'' (183 cm)
  • 190lbs (86 kg) 
  • Light brown hair, balding
  • Grey and blue eyes

Lee may be driving a 2016 red Hyundai Elantra GT, 4-door vehicle with Ontario plate CAKZ124. 

Officials say he may be in the Ottawa-Gatineau area. 

Anyone with information about the current whereabouts of Lee is asked to call the Ottawa Police at 613-236-1222. 

Anyone with information that could help investigators, but does not know where he is, is asked to contact the Missing Persons Unit 613-236-1222, ext. 2355, between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m., daily.
