Four guns, ammo, drugs seized by police in Vanier, west Ottawa

Seven people, ranging in age from 23 to 35, are facing charges after Ottawa police seized four guns, ammunition and drugs as part of two investigations.

Officers first searched a home on Lavergne Street in Vanier, on Wednesday, October 14. 

There, they turned up an SKS rifle, a 12-gauge shotgun, a homemade handgun, four high-capacity magazines, a large amount of various-calibre ammunition and some illegal narcotics.

Jean Poirier, 33, of Ottawa; Ashley Vienneau, 31, of Renfrew; and Martin O’Brien, 35, of Ottawa, have each been charged with the following offences:

  • Careless use of a firearm (three counts)
  • Unauthorized possession of a firearm (three counts)
  • Possession of a firearm knowing that its possession is unauthorized (three counts)
  • Possession of a prohibited device or ammunition knowing that its possession is unauthorized (four counts)
  • Possession of a weapon (three counts)
  • Possession of a loaded prohibited firearm (three counts)
  • Possession of a schedule I substance (two counts)

They are scheduled to appear in court, Thursday.

In a separate investigation, Ottawa police conducted two searches in west Ottawa, also on Wednesday. The first was on Kilbirnie Drive, just east of Greenbank Road and north or Barnsdale Road. The second search warrant happened on Morrison Drive, just west of Greenbank Road and south of Highway 417.

Officers uncovered cocaine, crystal methamphetamine, fentanyl, and a loaded 12-gauge shotgun at the two homes.

Jean Marc Guindon, 23, of Ottawa, is charged with:

  • Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking (three counts)
  • Possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000
  • Failure to comply with court order

Brianna Crispin, 25, of Ottawa, is charged with:

  • Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking (three counts)

Stephane Cote-Letourneau, 25, of Ottawa, is charged with:

  • Careless storage of a firearm
  • Possession of a weapon
  • Unauthorized possession of a firearm
  • Possession of a firearm knowing that its possession is unauthorized
  • Possession of a loaded prohibited firearm
  • Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking
  • Possession of a firearm or ammunition contrary to prohibition order (three counts)
  • Failure to comply with a probation order (two counts)

Chelsie Davidson, 23, of Ottawa, is charged with:

  • Careless storage of a firearm
  • Possession of a weapon
  • Unauthorized possession of a firearm
  • Possession of a prohibited/restricted weapon knowing that its possession is unauthorized
  • Possession of a loaded prohibited firearm
  • Possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking

They are all scheduled to appear in court, Thursday.

The Ottawa Police Service has now seized 92 illegal guns in 2020.
