UPDATE: Woman in critical condition following downtown Ottawa apartment fire

A woman in her 70s is in critical condition after a kitchen fire inside of a seventh storey apartment on Laurier Avenue West, in downtown Ottawa.
Ottawa Fire Services (OFS) received two 911 calls 12:06 p.m., on Monday, November 2, reporting smoke and fire inside of unit 708 at 500 Laurier Ave. W., near Bay Street.
The fire was declared under control at 12:33 p.m.
Paramedics say the woman, found inside the apartment, was initially unresponsive as she was suffering from airway burns. She was taken to hospital where her condition went from very serious to critical.
An Ottawa fire investigator will be working to determine what caused the fire.
