Loaded gun, fentanyl, crack cocaine seized by police in Lowertown

The Ottawa Police Service (OPS) says its ByWard Market Neighbourhood Resource Team has charged a couple of people after seizing a loaded handgun and drugs.

Officers say they uncovered fentanyl, crack cocaine and cash, in addition to the gun, on Murray Street, near King Edward Avenue, around noon, Tuesday, December 22.

Bruktemariam Nadew, 20, has been charged with:

  • Several Controlled Drugs and Substances Act offences
  • Breach of probation
  • Weapons charges
  • Possession of proceeds of crime
  • Obstructing police

Blaise Ninda, 18, has been charged with:

  • Several firearms/weapons offences
  • Controlled Drugs and Substances Act charges
  • Possession of proceeds of crime
  • Obstructing police

Both are scheduled to appear in court, Wednesday, December 23.
