Jeopardy! airing final Trebek episodes this week

By Dani-Elle Dubé

The world will say their final goodbye to TV’s longest running game show host, Canadian and former Ottawa resident Alex Trebek.

Trebek’s final Jeopardy! episodes will begin airing Monday and will come to its finality with the host on Friday — an episode that will come with a tribute to Trebek’s life and work.

The final episode was originally supposed to air on Christmas Day, but a statement to the Today Show from the Jeopardy! producers said they had “anticipated preemptions around” the year-end holidays, so they decided to push things forward.

Trebek filmed his final episode of Jeopardy! on Oct. 29.

He died on November 8 from pancreatic cancer.

Trebek hosted the show for 36 years.

Ken Jennings will be the first host to replace Trebek on the game show. Jennings was the best champion of all time of Jeopardy!

Jenning’s hosting duties will start on January 11.
