Ottawa man charged in December Centretown shooting

Police have laid charges in connection with a shooting in Centretown. 

On December 5, 2020, the Ottawa Police Service (OPS) responded to a shooting on Nepean Street, between Bank Street and Kent Street, that injured a 52-year-old man. 

On Friday, January 29, the OPS Guns and Gangs Unit charged Mustapha Yusuf, 25, of Ottawa, with the following 10 offences:

  • Possession of a Restricted/ Prohibited Firearm (No License)
  • Possession of a Restricted/ Prohibited Firearm (Knowing no Authority)
  • Careless Use of Firearm
  • Possession of a Loaded Regulated Firearm
  • Possession of a Firearm Obtained by Crime
  • Possession of a Firearm While Prohibited
  • Possession of a Weapon Dangerous to Public Peace
  • Discharging a Firearm with Intent
  • Aggravated Assault
  • Failure to Comply with Release Order 

Yusuf is due in court on January 29.
