UPDATE: Roof collapses during blaze at MacSkimming Outdoor Education Centre

Firefighters are still on scene of the fire that collapsed the roof of the MackSkimming Outdoor Education Centre.
Crews were called just after 4 p.m. but as of the latest update from Ottawa Fire Services at around 6:45 p.m., operations to control the fire continue.
One classroom building was affected.
The building was empty at the time and no injuries were reported.
A fire investigator is at the scene to determine the cause of the blaze.
Crews also continue to shuttle water along Highway 174.
The Ottawa-Carleton District School Board is working closely with Ottawa Fire Services to investigate the cause of the fire.
MacSkimming was first established in 1967. it is a 425-acre outdoor classroom on the east side of the city.
The primary focus of the OCDSB educational facility is to provide active question-based learning opportunities and curriculum-based experiences to elementary and secondary students, to explore and learn about Ontario's natural biodiverse setting.

Firefighters responded to the incident just after 4 p.m., Friday, January 29.
Officials say firefighters were forced out of the building around 4:45 p.m. when a section of the roof collapsed.
Firefighters are using an all terrain vehicle to shuttle personnel and equipment to the scene.
Ottawa Fire Services is asking residents to avoid the area if possible.
