Nearly 20,000 skaters per day gathering on Rideau Canal Skateway
Despite the pandemic, the National Capital Commission (NCC) says the number of people on the Rideau Canal Skateway last week was only down slightly compared to the daily visitation levels last year.
According to the NCC's website, the skateway averaged 19,779 visitors per day between February 8 and 14, with Dows and Mackenzie King West being the most popular access points.
An average of 22,000 skaters visited the canal on a daily basis during the 2020 season.

The full length of the canal is open and the NCC says for the best skating experience, visit during the week and avoid the peak times of 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. daily.
