Charges laid in downtown Ottawa knifepoint robbery

The Ottawa Police Service says it's arrested and charged a 30-year-old man after someone was threatened with a knife and robbed on Rideau Street.

Officers responded to an incident around 9:30 p.m. on Monday, March 1, in which they say a man was walking to his vehicle when he was stopped by an armed man who demanded his jewlery.

The victim was not injured.

Kareem Nicholson, of Ottawa, has been charged with:

  • Robbery with an offensive weapon
  • Possession of weapons dangerous for committing an offence
  • Breach of probation

Nicholson is scheduled to appear in court, Tuesday.
