NCC seeing early surge in Gatineau Park camping reservations

By Alex Goudge

The National Capital Commission (NCC) is reporting a significant surge in camping reservations made at Gatineau Park, after booking opened earlier this week.

After launching on March 15 at 9 a.m., a total of approximately 11,800 nights were booked — more than four times the number bookings from two years ago. On the first day for reservations in 2019, the NCC saw 2,800 nights booked.

Some changes have been implemented by the NCC for the 2021 camping season due to COVID-19, including requiring campers to be from the same household. It's also closed group camp sites until further notice.

The Gatineau Park camping season runs from May 14 to October 11.
