Ottawa opens second mass COVID-19 vaccination site, two more coming next week

By Mike Vlasveld

The City of Ottawa has started vaccinating residents against COVID-19 at the Ruddy Family YMCA-YWCA in Orléans, as part of its plan to eventually open seven mass vaccination centres across the city.

The Wednesday, March 17, opening of the Orléans site comes after residents 90-years-and-older started getting shots at the Nepean Sportsplex on March 12.

Ottawa Mayor Jim Watson says vaccine clinics will be opening at the Eva James Memorial Centre in Kanata and downtown, at City Hall, next week.

The city is currently vaccinating residents over the age of 80, as well as groups the province has identified as 'highest' and 'very high' priority healthcare workers.

All eligible residents are now able to book appointments at any of the four locations.
