Residents in Ottawa will soon be able to get vaccinated against COVID-19 through local pharmacies, according to Nepean MPP Lisa MacLeod.
In a tweet, MacLeod says Ottawa pharmacies will be brought online and begin offering the vaccination upon the arrival of federal AstraZenca supply. However, the MPP did not provide a specific timeline for these plans.
Re Ottawa vaccines – 4000 Moderna doses this week to increase per capita, when federal AZ supply comes Ottawa pharmacies will be brought online to deliver vaccines & Ottawa will be classified as a hot zone for Phase 2 – at that time we will have a larger than per capita supply.

With the introduction of pharmacy vaccinations in the capital, MacLeod adds, Ottawa will be classified as a 'hot zone' for Phase 2 of the vaccination rollout. She explains, at that time, the province will have a “larger than per capita supply.”
The expanded eligibility under that phase includes those residents over 60, those with specific health conditions, along with certain workers who cannot work from home. The Ontario government anticipates Phase 2 of the rollout to take place between April and July 2021, depending on vaccine supply.
MacLeod adds 4,000 doses of the Moderna vaccine will be delivered to Ottawa this week.
According to Ottawa Public Health (OPH), over 133,000 doses of vaccines have been received in Ottawa, while over 110,000 shots have been administered to date.
