Ottawa Mission expects to serve more than 4,000 Easter meals

The Ottawa Mission expects to serve Easter meals to more than 4,000 people this year.

Over the last week, the shelter served meals through its food truck program, and on Monday, April 5, the Mission is serving in-house meals to its residents, as well as special takeout meals for community members.

The Mission provides a meal to anyone in need — not just those living in its shelter — and this year's menu includes turkey, roast beef, Yorkshire pudding and potatoes.

“We're talking 2,300 pounds of roast beef and 1,500 baked potatoes with sour cream, along with another 600 regular peeled potatoes,” says Ottawa Mission CEO Peter Tilley.

The in-house meals are being served between 10 a.m. and 12 p.m., Monday, while the take-out meals are being served from 11 a.m. until 3 p.m.
