Officials say that the human remains found in south Ottawa last year are confirmed to be a man, however there is not enough evidence to know who he is.
On Nov. 8, 2025, police responded to an area of Rideau and Albion roads after reports of possible human remains. After an investigation, police are confirming that the remains are of an adult male.
Further analysis is needed in the hope of identifying the person’s family through DNA, the press release by officers reads Feb. 24. They say the process is ongoing and more will be updated when it’s available.
Police do note that they are aware of a missing man who could fit this description: Corey Baldwin.
“Mr. Baldwin was last seen at his residence in Greely, Ont., a short distance from where the remains were located,” the press release reads. “While there is currently no confirmed connection, investigators are exploring all possible leads.”
He has been missing since 2019, and police said that his disappearance is being investigated as a homicide. This decision was made based on evidence gathered, leading investigators to believe that Baldwin was the victim of a crime.
At the time of his disappearance, Baldwin had two young children at home. He would be 47-years-old today.
