Brockville COVID-19 vaccine clinic expands vaccination capacity

To address growing COVID-19 numbers as Ontario goes through its third lockdown and another stay-at-home order, the Leeds, Grenville and Lanark District Health Unit is expanding its COVID-19 vaccination capacity.
The health unit said it had started vaccinating 100 residents per hour as of Tuesday — that’s up from its previous 40 residents per hour goal at the Brockville Vaccine Clinic.
“With the removal of the ice in the rink area, more space was available to accommodate more vaccination stations and still retain physical distancing,” Wednesday's announcement from the health unit said.
“Increasing access to vaccinations will help us keep our community safe,” Dr. Paula Stewart, medical office of health, added. “By working together, we will help to vaccinate every eligible person in our community faster.”
Those aged 60 years or older are now eligible to book an appointment for their COVID-19 shot at the clinic located at 458 Laurier Blvd.
On Wednesday, the Ontario government reported 12 new cases of the virus in the Leeds, Grenville and Lanark County District Health Unit area.
In all, the health unit has recorded 1,321 cases since the start of the pandemic.
