Centre d’accueil Champlain resident dies due to COVID-19

A memo from the City of Ottawa confirms a resident at its Centre d'accueil Champlain long-term care home has died due to COVID-19.

According to General Manager of Community and Social Services Donna Gray, three people at the centre are still positive for the virus, including one resident, one staff member and one visitor.

Since May 19, there have been 40 cases of novel coronavirus confirmed within the home which remains on a facility-wide outbreak alert with restrictions in place.

Outbreak precautions also remain in place at two units at the Garry J. Armstrong, after two residents and one staff member tested positive for COVID-19.

There are currently no cases of COVID-19 at the city-run Carleton Lodge or Peter D. Clarke long-term care homes.
