UPDATE: Ottawa police lay first degree murder charge, identify victim in Nepean stabbing

A 54-year-old man is facing charges of first degree murder and attempted murder after the stabbing of two women in Nepean.

Ottawa police officers were called to Baseline Road, just east of Algonquin College, shortly before 7 p.m. on Tuesday, June 15.

The deceased woman has been identified as Hanadi Mohammed, 50, of Ottawa.    

Police say a second woman suffered serious but not life-threatening injuries.    

Hamid Ayoub has been arrested and charged.
