COVID-19 outbreak cleared at OCDC as health unit confirms 8 new cases across Ottawa
Ottawa Public Health (OPH) is confirming eight new cases of COVID-19 in the city at the same time as it clears a nearly month-long outbreak at the Ottawa-Carleton Detention Centre (OCDC).
The outbreak at the jail on Innes Road affected 36 inmates and five staff members between May 22 and June 21.
There are still four healthcare facilities and one childcare centre dealing with COVID-19 outbreaks in Ottawa as of Tuesday, June 22. OPH is also monitoring three community outbreaks stemming from workplaces.

The health unit says it knows of 172 active cases of COVID-19 in the city.
Ottawa's weekly COVID-19 incidence rate is down to 12.7 per 100,000 residents.
Residents being tested for COVID-19 are seeing positive results 2.1 per cent of the time.
Local hospitalizations due to novel coronavirus are down to 10 with five patients in intensive care.
No new COVID-19-related deaths being reported in Ottawa, Tuesday, keeps the local pandemic death toll at 588, which includes: one person in their 20s; one in their 30s; eight in their 40s; 25 in their 50s; 71 in their 60s; 111 in their 70s; 203 in their 80s; and 168 in their 90s.

There have been 27,589 confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Ottawa (26,829 resolved) since the spring of 2020.
The City of Ottawa has administered 92 per cent of the 782,390 COVID-19 vaccine doses it's received as of Monday, June 21. OPH updates local vaccination figures on its dashboard every Monday, Wednesday and Friday.
So far, more than 76 per cent of residents over the age of 18 and 65 per cent of all residents have had at least one dose of a COVID-19 vaccine. OPH says 170,792 residents have been fully vaccinated, which equals 20 per cent of residents over 18 and 16 per cent of the entire population.
