Ottawa Race Weekend confirms in-person events for 2022 with limited capacity

By Mike Vlasveld

Registration is opening for the 2022 Tamarack Ottawa Race Weekend, which is set to be live and in-person for the first time in three years.

The two-day running festival in downtown Ottawa is scheduled for May 28-29 of next year, but there will be just 5,000 spots available in all of the weekend's events: the Marathon, Half-marathon, 10K, 5K, 2K, Kids Marathon or in the Lumberjack, Voyageur or Bytown challenges.

Registration opens Wednesday, September 8, at noon.

At its peak in 2015, the Tamarack Ottawa Race Weekend welcomed close to 50,000 participants. In March of 2020, before the live event was cancelled due to the pandemic, close to 30,000 people were set to take part.

“We're opening registration with a limited number of spots given the ongoing uncertainty around the pandemic. We feel really positive about being able to host a live, in person, event in May 2022,” said Ian Fraser, executive director of Run Ottawa.

An announcement will be made at a later date if public health measures allow organizers to welcome more participants in all or some distances.
