Four people arrested after police seize over $1M of illegal cannabis products
Over $1 million worth of illegal cannabis products were seized in Kanata and Carleton Place during warrant executions by OPP last month.
On September 29, the Provincial Joint Forces Cannabis Enforcement Team with the OPP East Region Street Crime Unit with several other teams executed search warrants at an industrial facility on Emily Street in Carleton Place and at a residence on Huntsman Crescent in Kanata.
As a result, officers seized over 700 cannabis plants, nearly over 200 lbs. of processed cannabis, 120 lbs. of cannabis shakes, large quantities of cannabis resin and cannabis edibles, several thousand dollars in cash, as well as growing and processing equipment.

Four Ottawa residents were arrested during the raid.
Ronald Trempe, 63, was charged with:
- Possession for the purpose of distributing
- Alter or offer to alter the chemical or physical properties of cannabis by the use of an organic solvent
- Cultivate, propagate or harvest a cannabis plant that is from seed or plant material that is illicit cannabis
- Cultivate, propagate or harvest any cannabis plant at place that is not their dwelling house
- Possession of a schedule I substance (opioid)
- Possession of proceeds of property obtained by crime over $5,000
Marianne Sloan, 53, is charged with:
- Possession for purpose of distributing
- Obtain or offer to obtain cannabis by any method or process
- Cultivate, propagate or harvest a cannabis plant that is from seed or plant material that is illicit cannabis
- Cultivate, propagate or harvest any cannabis plant at place that is not their dwelling house
- Possession of a schedule I substance (opioid)
Both of the accused are scheduled to appear in an Ottawa court on November 16.
Kayley Trempe, 22, and Justin Moore, 28, are each charged under the Cannabis Act with possession for the purpose of trafficking and are scheduled to appear before a Perth court on November 18.
