Brett O'Grady's dad Gordon has no clue why his son would go for a bike ride and disappear, but he's keeping faith that someone in the community will spot his son somewhere.
Gordon O'Grady joined CityNews' The Sam Laprade Show on Monday, October 18, to talk about the ongoing efforts to find his 35-year-old son.
Brett O'Grady works from home as an executive at Shopify and went for a bike ride on Thursday, October 14, but never came back.
Ottawa police officers found his bike on the city's east side around noon on Friday. It was at the top of an escarpment which dropped down about 100 feet, according to Gordon O'Grady.
Police told the father it was an extremely dangerous place to search.
The Ottawa Police Service had brought in a number of search teams over the weekend, one of which used a drone to try and find O'Grady through the thick brush from above. Officers looked up and down the Ottawa River and Aviation Parkway areas.
O'Grady says 100 volunteers joined the search after getting approval regarding where they could search, as to not disrupt police efforts.
The police search area expanded to where they would typically find someone 75 per cent of the time, but officials told O'Grady it's now too broad for the services they offer.
Ottawa police have called off their search but are reacting to tips regarding Brett O'Grady. The 35-year-old has a wife and child just over two years old.
“My job now is to find my son,” Gordon O'Grady tells CityNews.
