The unofficial first long weekend of summer is kicking off, which means some grocery stores and recreation centres will be closed.
The May long weekend is set to bring thunderstorms and showers and sticky, humid weather to the nation’s capital. Friday afternoon temperatures could reach 33 C, including the humidex, with a risk of a thunderstorm.
Saturday looks to be a wet day, with showers expected in the morning and Environment Canada noting up to 25 millimetres of precipitation could fall over the day. Temperatures are supposed to cool off by Sunday, with a high of 15 C expected.
The rainy wet weather is supposed to last until Monday when a mix of sun and cloud is expected, the weather agency’s forecast notes.
