Ottawa Public Health (OPH) is reporting a new COVID-19 outbreak at Frank Ryan Catholic Intermediate School, but other indicators of community spread remain low.

Two students have contracted the virus at the school, as of Monday, November 29, according to OPH. It's one of 16 ongoing outbreaks at local schools.

OPH is also monitoring eight outbreaks of COVID-19 at healthcare institutions, four at Ottawa daycare centres, and two in the community linked to manufacturing and recreation.

There are 11 people in local hospitals with the virus, one of whom is in an ICU. One of the the patients is a child under 10.

OPH is confirming 26 new cases of COVID-19 in Ottawa, Monday. There have been 285 new cases in Ottawa over the last seven days and 278 Delta variant cases in the last 30 days.

No new COVID-19 deaths in the city leaves its pandemic death toll at 618.

OPH knows of 347 active cases of COVID-19 in the community.

According to Ottawa's vaccination dashboard, 91 per cent of residents over the age of 12 have had at least one shot of a COVID-19 vaccine and 88 per cent have now had both necessary to be considered immunized.

The health unit says 85 per cent of residents over the age of five have had one shot against COVID-19 and 81 per cent have had two.

The rate of infection among Ottawa's unvaccinated vaccine-eligible population is four times higher than it is for the fully vaccinated population. The local rate of infection per 100,000 residents for those vaccinated against the virus is at 13.5, whereas the rate for those unvaccinated (or vaccinated with one dose under 14 days) is 49.3. The rate per 100,000 residents for those who are waiting for their second shot is 31.9.

Residents being tested for COVID-19 are seeing positive results 1.7 per cent of the time.

Ontario is reporting 788 new cases of COVID-19 on Monday. That’s down from 964 on Sunday, but the seven-day moving average continues its concerning rise. It now sits at 784, compared to 761 on Sunday.
