City of Ottawa confirms positive COVID-19 tests at child care centre, physical distancing centre

The City of Ottawa says a child at Borden Farm Child Care Centre and a client at the Dempsey Physical Distancing Centre have tested positive for COVID-19.

The child’s last day at the centre was on December 15 and Children’s Services received a positive test result on December 20. 

In consultation with Ottawa Public Health (OPH), Children’s Services is closing the preschool and toddler programs at Borden Farm Child Care Centre for at least 10 days, starting on December 21.

The city says Children’s Services has not identified further COVID-19 transmission within the centre so far. Communications have been provided to staff and family members.

The individual who tested positive after staying at the physical distancing centre last stayed there on December 16 and has been referred to self-isolate at the Routhier Isolation Centre.

The Dempsey Physical Distancing Centre will continue to accept referrals. 

The city's Human Needs Task Force is working with Ottawa Inner City Health and OPH to support contact tracing and will conduct additional surveillance testing as directed.
