A first-degree murder charge has been laid against the man accused of killing a Smiths Falls mom of four on Boxing Day.

Kevin Drew Ramage, 39, was arrested and taken into custody on Sunday, December 26 in what Smiths Falls police are calling a homicide that is domestic in nature.

The victim was Chantale Ramage (maiden name Lebrun).

A bail hearing is scheduled for Kevin on Thursday, December 30 at 1 p.m. in Perth.

Caitlyn Beute, Chantale’s best friend, spoke to CityNews Ottawa on Monday, December 27.

As Beute explained, Lebrun was in a “toxic relationship,” and according to Beute, Lebrun had asked for a separation and divorce from her husband, who did not want the same thing. This, she said, created more tension between the two.

A cause of death for Chantale has not been released.
