UPDATE: Three injured in explosion at Eastway Tank and Pump on Merivale Road

Three people are in hospital after an explosion at Eastway Tank and Pump on Merivale Road, between Cleopatra Drive and Slack Road.
Emergency crews were called to the scene at 1:30 p.m., Thursday, January 13, 2022.
When firefighters arrived on scene they quickly realized more resources were going to be needed and the blaze was eventually deemed a five-alarm fire.
Two of the injured people are in critical condition and one is stable, according to paramedics. Ottawa fire officials say they were all people who were working at Eastway Tank and Pump at the time of the incident.

Merivale Road is closed between West Hunt Club Road and MacFarlane Road, as it remains an active fire scene.
Investigators have not had the chance to assess the scene to determine how the explosion happened.
