OC Transpo service around downtown Ottawa suspended on third day of truck convoy protest

Residents have been asked to avoid the downtown area as truck protests continue throughout Ottawa’s downtown for a third day — but if it’s absolutely necessary, don’t expect to be taking the bus.

OC Transpo said it is suspending service on Monday, January 31 as buses are unable to operate throughout the downtown area.

Instead, routes are being detoured and travellers are told to take the O-Train Line 1, if travel is absolutely necessary.

The Rideau Centre remains closed on Monday and road closures continue to cause challenges for those who live and work downtown.

Other closures for trucker demonstrations (which may change as the day progresses) include:

• Interprovincial crossings
• Rideau/Wellington closed between Lyon and Mackenzie
• Mackenzie closed between St. Patrick and Rideau Streets
• Sussex closed between Murray and Rideau Streets
• Colonel By/Sussex northbound between Daly and Rideau Streets
• Laurier westbound closed between Nicholas and Elgin
• Laurier eastbound reduced to one lane between Elgin and Nicholas
• Elgin closed between Wellington and Albert
• Bank Closed between Nepean and Wellington
• Metcalfe closed between Wellington and Queen
• O’Connor closed between Slater and Wellington
• Kent closed between Albert and Wellington
• Bay closed between Albert and Wellington
• Queen closed between Lyon and Elgin
• Slater closed between Lyon and Kent
• Wellington closed between Booth and Portage Bridge
• Sir John A. Macdonald Pkwy closed between Booth and Carling
• Queen Elizabeth Drive between Laurier and Catherine

The bus company added that delays are also possible across the city.

If travelling by public transit, allow for extra time.
