OPP release more details of Highway 17 crash that resulted in death of 29-year-old Petawawa woman

More details are emerging into what happened on the side of Highway 17 near Horton Township earlier this week that resulted in the death of a 29-year-old woman. 

Speaking to The Sam Laprade Show on Wednesday, February 23, OPP’s acting Sgt. Taylor Copeland said police learned of the Petawawa woman’s death from the Renfrew Victoria Hospital.

The woman has since been identified as Jordana Yakabuskie. 

It was initially reported that Yakabuskie was struck on the side of Highway 7 when she was outside of a vehicle on Saturday, February 19.

Police were notified of a death by medical staff at the hospital shortly after midnight.

Investigators have since learned that the incident happened at 8:20 p.m., 600m east of Gillan Road in the same township.

A 27-year-old man identified as Cole Allard of Petawawa has been charged with manslaughter and dangerous operation of a vehicle causing death. 

Police are now asking for any witnesses or individuals who were in the area around 8:20 p.m. who may have dash cam footage to contact police at 1-310-1122 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477
