Longtime Carleton Place doctor appointed new chief of staff of hospital

By CityNews Ottawa

The board of directors of the Carleton Place and District Memorial Hospital (CPDMH) has named Dr. Allyson Champagne as its new chief of staff.

Dr. Champagne, who has been a family physician in Carleton Place for 15 years, said one of priorities as chief of staff is to recruit more community minded doctors to Carleton Place.

“We have a challenge and an opportunity to make CPDMH better by attracting and retaining community-minded family physicians who want to provide continuity of care for their patients by looking after them in the hospital as well as in their office practice.” added Dr. Champagne.

She also wants to help strengthen the growing collaboration with Almonte General Hospital and building on the work that has already been established.

“We will continue to work together to provide better, more efficient care, while reducing duplication of services,” continued Dr. Champagne.

Dr. Champagne replaces Dr. Jamie Fullerton who is stepping down after nearly three years as CPDMH’s chief of staff.
