Latest data reveals growth of Ottawa and the Valley

Data from the 2021 census released by Statistics Canada on April 27 reveals how much Canada's capital and the Valley have grown. 

The Ottawa-Gatineau census area grew by 8.5 per cent, welcoming 116,000 new residents between 2016 and 2021, with just over one million people living in Ottawa alone.

Smiths Falls grew by 5.4 per cent, translating to roughly 474 people. The town's population now stands at 9,254. Carleton Place, which has been one of the fastest growing areas around Ottawa, grew by more than 17 per cent, reaching a population of 12,517.
