OCSB schools with power to open May 25

The Ottawa Catholic School Board (OCSB) says all schools with power will be open on Wednesday, May 25.

After the devastation caused by the storm that rippled through Canada's capital on Saturday, May 21, OCSB officials made the decision to close all board schools on Tuesday, May 24.

In an update by board representatives on Tuesday afternoon, the OCSB said it would provide a normal school day for students as much as it can.

All OCSB schools without power will be closed on Wednesday and there will be no remote learning.

“Should the power outages at schools continue, we will make arrangements for device distribution and options for remote learning in areas where Internet and power are available,” the update from the OCSB stated.

The following schools have no power and will remain closed:

  •  Catholic Education Centre
  •  Dr. F.J. McDonald
  •  Frank Ryan
  •  Our Lady of Peace
  •  Sacred Heart
  •  St. Andrew
  •  St. Bernard
  •  St. Daniel
  •  St. Gabriel
  •  St. Gemma
  •  St. Gregory
  •  St. Isidore
  •  St. Leonard
  •  St. Luke Nepean
  •  St. Michael – Corkery
  •  St. Michael – Ottawa
  •  St. Monica
  •  St. Mother Teresa
  •  St. Paul
  •  St. Philip
  •  St. Rita

The OCBS's two virtual schools, Blessed Carlo and St. Josephine will not operate on Wednesday.

“As students come from across the city to attend the virtual schools, it would be problematic to offer classes when not all students can participate in learning,” the update said. “Should power outages continue, we will develop a plan to ensure continuity of learning.”

The Ottawa Student Transportation has cancelled all bus service to all Ottawa schools for Wednesday, May 25.
