Petrie Island the planned site for new waterpark

By Anil Jhalli

A new waterpark planned in Ottawa's east end is one step closer to reality.

Ottawa city councillors gave the green light earlier this week for Splashifax, an inflatable playground and waterpark.

Kristina Lemieux, the chief executive officer of Splashifax, told The Sam Laprade Show on Friday, June 10 with guest host Derick Fage that the company wants to set up shop in the northwest corner of Petrie Island.

“Splashifax is a series of really fun, inflatable obstacles, big slides, jumps, bounce pillows, and of course, our now famous giant unicorns,” Lemieux said.

Splashifax started in Halifax, is awaiting approval from Transport Canada as the project would be located on the Ottawa River.

“With all things that happen on waterways which all Canadians enjoy, we need to make sure our park is not causing interference or problems for other people out in the water,” she added.
