OC Transpo offering free transit on Canada Day

By CityNews Ottawa

OC Transpo is offering free transit service on July 1 for Canada Day.

The announcement was made during the City of Ottawa's transit commission on June 15.

This year's main Canada Day celebrations will take place at Lebreton Flats, a change from the previous festivities normally near Parliament Hill.

OC Transpo will be running an enhanced service schedule on Canada Day that will include additional buses to provide more capacity and later evening service on many routes.

O-Train Line 1 will run on a 15 train service during peak periods and, at the end of the programmed events.

Riders heading to the east end of the city after the fireworks will have additional buses available at the Hurdman, St. Laurent and Blair stations.

Transit riders heading to the west end of Ottawa will have transit available on Albert Street instead of the O-Train, with buses available to areas in Nepean, Kanata and Stittsville.

All details will be available on octranspo.com.
